She went on to act recurring roles in several television series like "Gunsmoke" [3 episodes: 1962-1971], "The Ellen Burstyn Show" [13 episodes: 1986-1987], "That's Life" [34 episodes: 2000-2002], "The Book of Daniel" [8 episodes: 2006] and "Big Love" [4 episodes: 2007-2009].

Ellen performed in a number of made-for-television movies such as "Thursday's Game" [1974], "The People vs. Jean Harris" [1981], "Into Thin Air" [1985], "Shattered Trust: The Shari Karney Story" [1993], "Timepiece" [1996], "Within These Walls" [2001], "Mrs. Harris" [2005], "Possible Side Effects" [2009] and many other TV films.

She starred in a number of hit movies like "For Those Who Think Young" [1964], "Pit Stop" [1969], "Harry and Tonto" [1974], "Hanna's War" [1988], "The Baby-Sitters Club" [1995], "The Yards" [2000], "The Elephant King" [2006], "Greta" [2009] and several other films.

Burstyn won Oscar for "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" [1974] and received five Oscar nominations for her fabulous performances in "The Last Picture Show" [1971], "The Exorcist" [1973], "Same Time, Next Year" [1978], "Resurrection" [1980] and "Requiem for a Dream" [2000].
